It is our mission to bring you the best experience with your favourite pet Insect or Spider. No matter which bug you choose; if it’s a stick insect or a scorpion we are sure that you will enjoy your new found friends.

The house whole pet as certainly changed over the last 10 years or so, yes you can still have the dog but you’re looking a special or quite different experience, an incredible, an astonishingly amazing animal that no one else has. You’re seeking a different kind of companion.

On our site you’ll find stick insects, scorpions, bird eating spiders, giant burrowing cockroaches and a range of enclosures to house and how to look after your special bug.

But first there are a few things you will need to know before you choose your first bug.

1). NO Sprays or Chemicals.
Insects and their relatives are invertebrates and as such are mostly (by some) considered a pest, people use PESTICIDES & INSECTICIDES  to rid their homes for example form pest cockroaches; When you bring home your pet stick insect or giant borrowing cockroach home, it too will be susceptible to these sprays and chemicals.

2). Walking the Gold Fish?
As with fish we don’t take them for the walk every afternoon as we would the family dog. An insect or spider also doesn’t need to be HANDLED. Any of the invertebrates that are able to sting or inject venom are only sold to adults (over 18 Y/O) and given a specific fact sheet for each species. Kids with stick insects or giant borrowing cockroaches may hold them, but it is recommended that this only be done once every two weeks no more. These animals can and do get stressed just as we do.

3). How Long will they Live for?
A 7 year old DOG is now believed to be equal to a 44 year old human, so a goliath stick insect takes 6 months to be an adult; so if that insect lives for 2 years it would be the equivalent of a 64 year old person. In the wild a large number of invertebrates don’t survive due to birds, lizards, frogs and other insects or spider eating them, when we have them as pets we are giving them all the comforts of home which is number 4.

4). The comforts of home
We enjoy the air-con, the heater when needed; sometimes we have them when we really don’t need too. The invertebrates you will have as your guests in your home are a lot smaller then you so their size will have be taken into account but as a general rule, if you are cold, they are cold, if you are hot they are hot. Depending on the species you keep and the housing set up you well need to look carefully at how the temperature and humidity is maintained. This may also affect the food, for example, if the enclosure to humid the food may go mouldy. See your specific species fact sheet for details.

Now that we fully understand what is needed to do to look after and new found friend I hope you enjoy trying to pick only one species. Good Luck!
