Workshops/ Gifted & Talented
Workshops.
Specific workshops have been developed for primary school stages (1 - 3), gifted & talented groups and TAFE classes. Topics can include - classification, collecting techniques, identification and a simple invertebrate survey. We look at how invertebrates (insects & spiders) fit into the food chains investigate the diversity of insects. We finish with a revision of insects and spiders, looking at creatures from the Bug Box.
These workshops can be desinged to meet your requirements, going from 1 hour to 3 hours, over 2 days or even weeks. One of the most popular programs is the bug box coupled with either insects and spider collection identifcation or collection & identification of water bugs. If you have specific requirements, we can work with you to produce a particular program to achive required outcomes.
Holidays Programs.
These are usually held at vacation centres and libraries, a Bug Box presentation for up to 40 children with collecting if required. This is a good way to engage children in learning about our environment and life of insects and spiders, presented in a form that is interesting and fun.
University.
University lectures are also available, I have been showing 2nd year environmental students of UWS Macathur (Campbelltown) how to collect, preserve and identify insects for over 10 years. For a specific program please contact Stephen.
